Märchensommer: Rolle

Wir näheren uns dem letzten Monat des Märchensommers. Letzte Woche habe ich mich ein paar Norddeutschen Märchen gewidmet, da es noch etwas dauert, bis der neuste Märchenspinnerei Band als Print erscheint. Da ich bisher nur Deutsche Autorinnen vorgestellt habe, möchte ich mal in den englischen Sprachraum abschweifen und euch von einer Märchenreihe erzählen, von der ich durch Anni Mal, einer Teilnehmerin der Challenge, erfahren habe und die sehr interessant klingt. Die Rede ist von Rosamund Hodges‚ Cruel Beauty Universum und anderen Adaptionen.

Im ersten Band „Cruel Beauty„, ihrem Debut, erzählt sie in einer Mischung aus Die Schöne und das Biest, Blaubart und Griechischer Mythologie die Geschichte einer Frau, die erzogen wurde ein Monster zu heiraten. „Gilded Ashes“ ist eine Aschenputtel Adaptation als Kurz-Novelle im gleichen Universum. „Crimson Bound„, gehört direkt nicht in die Reihe, erzählt dennoch die Geschichte von Rotkäppchen und dem Mädchen ohne Hände, sowie ein bisschen Nordische Götterdämmerung.
Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich die Bände jemals lesen werde, aber sie klingen auf alle Fälle sehr interessant.

Jetzt aber zum Challenge-Teil, bei dem ihr wieder einen Punkt sammeln könnt:

Wer wärst du, wenn du in einem Märchen leben würdest/könntest?

Da ich keine Hauptcharakterambitionen habe, wäre ich gerne der (Geschichten)Erzähler. Das kann ich. Nenne ich mich doch auf Twitter selbst „Teller of Stories“. 😀 Ich mag es einfach anderen Leuten Geschichten zu erzählen, auch wenn ungeteilte Aufmerksamkeit manchmal sehr angsteinfößend ist. Natürlich muss man dafür die Geschichten erleben, erzählt bekommen oder sich ausdenken, aber ich denke zumindest die letzten beiden Teile sollte ich hinbekommen. Bei ersterem würde ich mich in der Märchenwelt vermutlich etwas zurückhalten. 😉

Lies auf Deutsch

We’re closing in on the last month of the Fairy Tale Summer. Last Week I dived into Northern German Fairy Tales, as it still takes a while before the next Märchenspinnerei book is released as print edition. As I so far only presented German authoresses, I’d like to digress into the English language and tell you about a Fairy tale series that I learned about through Anni Mal, a participant of the challenge; which sounded pretty interesting. What I’m talking about is Rosamund Hodges‚ Cruel Beauty Universe and other adaptations.

In the first book“Cruel Beauty„, her debut, she tells the story of a young woman raised to marry a monster in a mixture of Beauty and the Beast, Bluebeard and Greek Mythology. „Gilded Ashes“ is a Cinderella adaptation as short novella in the same universe. „Crimson Bound„, doesn’t actually belong to the series, but it tells the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Girl without Hands, in addition to a bit Norse Twilight of the Gods.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever read the books, but they certainly sound interesting.

Let’s get to the challenging part, where you can collect another point:

Who would you be if you lived/could live in a Fairy Tale?

As I don’t have any ambitions to be a main character, I’d prefer to be to narrator/story teller. That’s what I can do. I call myself „Teller of Stories“ on Twitter after all. 😀 I just like to tell other people stories, even if the undivided attention is sometimes scary. Of course for that you have to live through or be told stories or make them up entirely, but I should be able to do at least the last two things. With the first one in a Fairy Tale world, I’d probably stand aside. 😉
