What is the Weekend Guess?

Up to three riddles formulated by me that are puns and wordplays on the answer itself I put on here for my readers to answer.

Why am I doing this?

For no apparent reason, just because I consider the idea to be funny.

What are the questions about?

Everything I can think of I guess, so far the things you had to figure out were song titles and bands and movies, now it’s books.

What is your part in this?

You can try to figure out my riddles and see if you can manage to get behind them and understand what I am describing.

What is in it for you?

So far: Nothing, but the knowledge that you managed to unlock one of my silly riddles.

Let’s start with the fifty sixth set of questions

I am looking for the title of this book:

The inquisitions favourite manual for their trials.*

Leave your guesses in the comments below and I can see if my questions are too easy or to hard to figure out. I will give the correct answer with the next instalment.
Have fun figuring it out! 🙂

Solution for last weeks Weekend Guess:

The Hunger Games

Technically nazgul guessed it correctly, though he started out with the name of the entire series. So congratulations!

*Three Hints:

  1. It’s not a novel.
  2. It’s an old book (15th century).
  3. I mean the celebration on the 30th of April in the introduction.

  1. This would seem to refer to „The Imitation of Christ“ by Thomas A. Kempis. Based this mostly off of the hints though, so it’s possible I missed something. Clever riddle though.

    1. Thanks for the compliment(, the follow, the like) and your participation, but that’s not what I’m looking for.
While your book fits Hint #1 and #2, it doesn’t really say anything concerning Hint #3 and the riddle itself – as far as I can see from Wikipedia.
But I’m sure with those two you’ll be able to find the right book.
      Good luck. 🙂

      1. Thanks for the feedback. I was going off the top of my head and used Hint #3 and the riddle as broad references to Catholicism. Your riddle is better than I thought 🙂

        1. Thank you.
Good start, but as far as I know there is no Catholic celebration during the night from April to May. 😉 Though it is a European custom that might not be as well known across the pond, but if you do, the riddle should be easy to solve.

          1. Well this last April 30 was Holy Thursday (part of the Catholic „Holy Week“ related to Easter). I studied religion so I immediately made the connection to Catholicism from that and the inquisitions, and „The Imitation of Christ“ is from the 15th century and is the 2nd most popular Catholic devotional (behind the Bible itself). I’ll have to look it up though and figure out what you were looking for.

          2. If the Holy Thursday you mean is the same I think it it is, then it was on the 2nd of April, as that was the Thursday before Easter.
And the thing I mean is always on the 30th of April.
            I’m sure you’ll figure it out. 🙂
Think dark side of Catholicism. 😉

          3. I apologize, April 30 was during the fourth week of Easter, not Holy Week. But I’m assuming you’re speaking of Walpurgis Night, I’m just not sure what work connects all the pieces together. I’m distracted at the moment, but I’m sure once I look it up I’ll feel stupid for not thinking of it.
